These classes will be uploaded online and assigned to my students at Towson U in an online class this summer. The class is called Fundamentals of Dance Movement. We will focus on experiential anatomy, including Bartenieff Fundamentals principles (such as breath support, core support, dynamic alignment, etc.). Most of the exercises will be improvised.

Check out the Breath Support and Dynamic Alignment courses that we made last year:

With these classes, what I want to do for my students is to reinforce concepts, but also to encourage them to enjoy moving and to find comfort and joy in being in their own skins. So, our primary goal will be to have fun!

Snacks will be provided. (Want to contribute a dish? You are more than welcome to! Let me know.)
Please RSVP for one or both dates.

Hope to see you!

Malcolm (Mac) Shute directs Human Landscape Dance, a contemporary dance company in Washington DC. As a choreographer, he charts human relationships through touch: a hand closing a pair of eyes, feet rising over a shoulder, a figure standing upon another's back. His work has been seen in Philadelphia, Nova Scotia, and London. Shute holds a Master of Fine Arts in Dance with a concentration in choreography from the University of Maryland. He is a Certified Movement Analyst through the Laban/Bartenieff Institute of Movement Studies. Shute teaches choreography and writing at the Towson University BFA Dance Program.
